Toothbrushes

Manual and battery operated.

Interdental brushes

These aid in the cleaning of fixed appliances.

Disclosing tablets

These help to improve brushing by highlighting plaque in pink. We recommend that you use these once a day when you have the most time. Brush first, then chew a tablet. Spit out, rinse and then look at your teeth in the mirror – any pink areas are where plaque has been left behind.

Brush again until all the disclosing solution has gone. After the first week reduce the process to twice a week if improvements have been made.

Gel Kam

A high fluoride toothpaste which helps to strengthen teeth during orthodontic treatment.

Use this once a day last thing before bed while orthodontic treatment continues. Brush first as normal, having a good rinse and drink as required. Then place a pea sized amount of gel kam onto your brush and brush on to all the surfaces on your teeth. Leave for five minutes then spit out the excess. Do not eat or drink anything else until the morning, leaving the gel to sink into the teeth.

Removable appliance boxes

Large or small, they protect appliances from loss or damage while not in the mouth.

Retainer Brite

A mild cleaning solution to help keep removable appliances clean. Follow the instructions on the packet, but use once a week rather than daily

Wax

This is used to help prevent braces from rubbing the inside of lips and cheeks.

Dry any areas such as brackets or bands that are rubbing with tissue. Then take a piece of wax, roll it up and place over the top as a protective layer, allowing the lips or cheeks to heal.

Saliva in the mouth will wash the wax away, so replace it as required – always carry some around with you in case you need it. The wax is vegetable based and harmless if swallowed.

Fluoriguard,

A fluoride mouth rinse to protect the teeth. This is similar to gel kam, but less concentrated. Rsinse your mouth with it for 30 seconds, and then spit it out.

Mouthguards

Specially made to protect fixed appliances while they are being worn.
