Fixed braces are orthodontic appliances that patients can’t remove. They consist of brackets that are attached to the front of each tooth and held together by a wire. They are one of the most effective ways to straighten your teeth.
Using a series of brackets, archwires and elastics, fixed braces apply gentle pressure to your teeth. A bracket is fixed to each individual tooth using a special adhesive, and the archwire runs through them. It is all held together with the help of elastics.
When you come in for your regularly scheduled adjustment appointments, Dr Schuth will bend the archwires at just the right angle to apply pressure that guides your teeth into the proper positions.
